SINGAPORE’S NATIONAL DAY

SINGAPORE’S NATIONAL DAY
Authored By Eva

The National Day is a designated date on which celebrations mark the nationhood of a nation or non-sovereign country. This nationhood can be symbolized by the date of independence, of becoming a republic or a significant date for a patron saint or a ruler. Often the day is not called "National Day" but serves and can be considered as one. The National Day will often be a national holiday.

The National Day of Singapore is celebrated every year on 9 August, in commemoration of Singapore's independence from Malaysia in 1965. This holiday features a National Day Parade, an address by the Prime Minister of Singapore and fireworks celebrations.

Every time National Day is celebrated, I feel proud of my country. As the saying goes “United we stand, divided we fall”, if Singapore did not persevere and work together to achieve success, Singapore would not have gained independence. So, I cherish National Day very much.
